Our Story

Why I started FunDaddy

It started with a question I kept asking myself as a new father: how can I spend more meaningful time building things with my child?

Screens were easy. Toys were easy. What I wanted was for the two of us to make something that did not exist before we sat down together.

I work in robotics and AI, so turning his ideas into something that moves, lights up or talks back is the part I can do. The part he does is more important: he decides what we build, he gets his hands on every piece, and he is the one who notices when it does not work.

Since then we have built a motorised LEGO shop door, a toy phone he can actually talk to, a steering wheel with sounds and wipers, and a digger that sprays real water. Each one taught him something — gears, circuits, cause and effect — without either of us calling it a lesson.

FunDaddy grew from there. Other parents asked how we did it. So I started writing the projects down, and then inviting families to build with us on weekends. From one father and one child, into an initiative for families who want to build, learn and create together.

What I hope to bring

I would love to bring the same spirit of curiosity, making and contribution to more families, preschools and community groups in Singapore — or wherever a hands-on dad can help.
